A Note From The PresidentDear Music Boosters, As the holiday season and winter break draw near, I would like to thank everyone who has been so generous with their support of the Music Boosters and Music Department so far this school year. Our organization simply cannot do what we do or have the success we enjoy without your tireless commitment. We will begin 2014 with preparations for our Pasta Dinner on Saturday, January 25 and the OMEA Adjudication Event on Saturday, February 1. Please support the students and the Music Boosters by coming to the Pasta Dinner and listening to the selections they work so hard on to present at the OMEA event. It is truly a wonderful evening of music and fellowship. (See info below) In addition, auditions will be held in January and rehearsals will begin for the Spring Musical to be presented on Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22. Help will be needed with costuming, props and set design. Please contact me if you can lend a hand. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year. Ask your son or daughter, they will have the tickets the week of Dec 16th. Please be on the lookout for them. Throughout the evening, members of the Independence High School Chorus and Band will perform selections they have prepared for the Ohio Music Education Association adjudication. Enrichment is part of the Music Booster's MissionThe ongoing mission of the music boosters is to foster and encourage student development in the musical arts. Throughout the year the music boosters raise money to provide funds used to purchase instruments, equipment and uniforms. Booster volunteers provide hospitality for both the IHS and visiting bands at football halftime, and also assist with set design/construction and costume design/creation for the madrigal and drama productions. The Music Boosters also offer a musical enrichment grant for eligible students. Fruit and butterbraid orders will be delivered on Monday 12/16, from 2:35pm until 6:30pm. Mr. Schatt will be present in the Band Room until 6:30.
A warm Italian pasta dinner provides homemade comfort food on a cold January evening!! The annual IMB Pasta dinner will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2014, from 5-8 p.m., in the Independence High School Cafeteria. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children age 12 and under. Dinner includes pasta with homemade tomato sauce, meatballs, breadstick, salad, beverage, and dessert. Proceeds from this annual fundraiser benefit the instrumental and vocal music programs here at the school.
Marie Nemeth's mother, Phyllis Grande, has joined the Band of Ten with a $100 donation towards the Turf the Stadium initiative. We are now "The Band of Eleven". Thanks to the following families for putting the good will of the music department on display for our community to see: Belitz, Koeth, Soo, George, Nemeth, Stasek, Savastano, Kula, Mower, Grande, and Krolikowski.
